Main Responsibilities
- Platform Strategy & Vision: Define and drive the internal platform strategy aligned with company-wide engineering goals; identify high-leverage opportunities to reduce friction and improve developer productivity; balance standardization vs. flexibility to create reusable building blocks without slowing teams down;
- Developer Experience (DevEx): Own and improve the end-to-end developer journey from local dev to production; reduce cognitive load through self-service infrastructure, golden paths and clear abstractions; leverage and integrate AI-driven tools to improve developer productivity, debugging and operational workflows.
- People Leadership: Lead and grow a team of SREs, fostering a culture of ownership, learning and psychological safety.
- Reliability Strategy: Drive the strategy for improving the availability, performance and efficiency of services.
- Cross-Team Enablement: Partner closely with SRE, Procurement and Product teams to understand pain points and priorities; act as a force multiplier enabling teams rather than becoming a bottleneck.
- Operational Excellence: Embed SRE principles into platform solutions (SLOs, error budgets, observability by default); continuously reduce operational toil across engineering teams;
- Incident Management: Oversee response and follow-up of major incidents, ensuring robust root cause analysis and corrective actions;
- Mentorship & Growth: Foster an environment where engineers are challenged, supported, and provided opportunities to grow in their careers.
Core Requirements
- Experience: 3+ years of engineering management experience, ideally leading SRE, platform, or infrastructure teams;
- Platform Thinking: Strong understanding of platform engineering concepts (self-service, paved roads, internal products); experience building tools or platforms used by other engineers.
- Technical Depth: Solid background in distributed systems and infrastructure; hands-on experience with modern infrastructure stacks (cloud, containers, CI/CD, observability); ability to engage deeply in technical discussions and guide architectural decisions.
- Operational Excellence: Deep familiarity with SRE concepts such as SLIs/SLOs, observability, incident response and chaos engineering.
- Execution & Collaboration: Proven ability to drive cross-team initiatives in complex environments; strong written and verbal communication skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders; ability to balance long-term platform investments with short-term impact;
- Team Development: Demonstrated success in hiring, developing, and retaining strong engineering talent;
- Process-Driven: Experience establishing and improving engineering processes.
Salary Range
- Gross Salary 5000 - 8600 EUR/Month
