NordVPN and Internews launch partnership to strengthen digital safety for journalists and at-risk communities

The collaboration comes at a time when digital threats — including surveillance, harassment, cyberattacks and information manipulation — are rapidly intensifying.

Across restrictive contexts shaped by censorship, conflict, and pervasive monitoring, secure communication is not a luxury: it is essential for safety, free expression, and survival. Thousands of journalists and civil society actors rely on privacy-protecting technologies to do their work safely and maintain access to trustworthy information for their communities.

Internews will also provide digital security trainers with Nord’s Changemakers slide deck, ensuring consistent, trusted exposure to Nord’s resources among activists, journalists, and NGOs in high-risk environments.

Driving public engagement through a joint donation campaign

NordVPN and Internews will launch a joint donation incentive campaign in which the first 100 individuals who donate £35 to Internews will receive a 6-month NordVPN subscription. The campaign aims to engage new supporters, strengthen public awareness of digital safety, and connect Nord’s consumer products to a cause directly aligned with its mission.

With both organisations participating in RightsCon 2026, the partnership will create opportunities to highlight frontline experiences of censorship and digital repression while demonstrating how responsible technology can protect people under threat. Internews will contribute case studies, expert speakers, and community perspectives to Nord-led workshops and events.
