The Infrastructure department is responsible for influencing and tracking change, providing frontline support, and delivering software-defined solutions.

The Linux App Team is dedicated to developing and maintaining the open-source NordVPN application for Linux users. As part of the Low Level team, this group of engineers works closely with experts focused on core libraries and server-side challenges, ensuring seamless performance and integration across the platform.

Operating within the broader Infrastructure department, the Linux App Team plays a crucial role in building reliable, secure, and high-performance solutions that empower millions of users worldwide. If you're passionate about open-source development and eager to tackle complex challenges, this team could be a good environment for you.

Main Responsibilities

  • Design and develop clean, maintainable and performant code in Golang;
  • Develop GUI for NordVPN Linux application;
  • Solve problems in security, performance, privacy and networking at scale;
  • Apply clean code principles and work according to the latest industry standards;
  • Work together with the members of the NordVPN Linux application team to deliver high-quality, secure and performant software solutions;
  • Get involved and contribute to growing the open-source community around the NordVPN Linux application

Core Requirements

  • Desire to learn and improve;
  • Solid Software Engineering knowledge in Golang or similar language(C/C++/Rust);
  • Understanding of the Linux operating system;
  • Experience with GitHub, GitLab and understanding of core CI/CD principles

Bonus Points For

  • Deep understanding of firewalls and networking;
  • Experience with different Linux package managers (deb, rpm, snap, flatpack, etc);
  • Advanced knowledge of networking protocols - TCP/IP v4/v6, DNS, OpenVPN, QUIC, WireGuard, etc.;
  • Experience with Flutter
