The Infrastructure department is responsible for influencing and tracking change, providing frontline support, and delivering software-defined solutions. 

The System Administrator plays an essential role in managing and optimizing our infrastructure. The role requires an individual with experience in Linux servers, cloud environments, and security practices who can work independently on operational and improvement initiatives. The SysAdmin collaborates with team members across Engineering and Operations to ensure systems are secure, reliable, scalable, and performant.

Main Responsibilities

  • Access Provisioning: Set up and manage access to tools and services, ensuring permissions align with organizational policies
  • Engineering Support: Process engineering requests, providing timely and accurate support for system and access needs
  • Server Maintenance: Patch servers and handle updates to maintain system integrity and compliance
  • Vulnerability Management: Apply patches and basic security configurations, ensuring vulnerabilities are identified and addressed
  • DayWatch Monitoring: Oversee system health during scheduled times, promptly addressing any issues that arise
  • Systems Administration: Support server migrations, upgrades, and configuration management (e.g., Debian upgrades, software updates)
  • Automation: Write and manage Ansible playbooks, and configure tools for task automation (e.g., Rundeck or similar)
  • CI/CD Pipelines: Troubleshoot, enhance, and maintain CI/CD pipelines to streamline deployments
  • Monitoring and Observability: Configure and manage monitoring services (ELK, Grafana, Prometheus) to ensure system health and performance
  • Web Server Management: Configure and maintain web servers (e.g., Nginx, Apache) for performance and security
  • Support and Troubleshooting: Proactively resolve infrastructure issues, improve reliability, and optimize processes

Core Requirements

  • 3+ years experience as a System Administrator, DevOps Engineer, or in a similar role
  • Strong understanding of Linux system administration (Debian/Ubuntu), with experience managing virtualized and cloud servers
  • Demonstrable knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, automation tools (Ansible, Rundeck), and scripting in Bash/Python
  • Hands-on experience with container tools like Docker and web tools (Nginx, Apache, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts: DNS, VPN, routing, proxies, and security controls
  • Familiarity with monitoring and observability solutions (ELK, Prometheus, Grafana, etc.)
  • Proven ability to handle security configurations and address vulnerabilities
